Chinderah

Chinderah is an historic village stretched along the wide lower reaches of the Tweed River and provides a good standard of caravan parks and motel accommodation. Not only will you find a boat ramp, great fishing from the old Barneys Point Bridge and numerous riverside picnic spots but if you don't catch anything you can go to one of the fish and chip shops in the area. Two historic cemeteries contain the graves of original pioneering families and the South Sea Islander immigrants who were used to establish the sugar cane industry in the Tweed. Now you can wander through an art gallery, antique shop, relax in the cafe or have a cool drink in the hotel all beside the river. Chinderah is a short drive to Tweed Heads just 10 minutes drive from the Southern Gold Coast, and about 45 minutes drive to Mt Warning and Lamington National Parks.
