Lemon Tree Passage Accommodation, Hotels, Tours & Information

Lemon Tree Passage

In an area as stunning as Port Stephens with its crystal clear blue water, blindingly white sands and virgin bushland, a resort town doesn't need a melodic name to grab the visitor's attention.

But it helps and Lemon Tree Passage rolls just as sweetly off the tongue as its natural beauty entrances the eye. Guarding the point nudged by Tilligerry Creek as it spills into Port Stephens, Lemon Tree Passage looks out across a narrow passage to Bulls Island.

The township offers a variety of gentle, coastal walking trails and a central boat ramp provides direct access to the port"s mainstream.

A short coastline drive takes you to Tanilba Point and Tanilba House. Built for a Lieutenant Caswell and his family in the early 1830s, the home is preserved as a living museum of life in the early 19th century and is open to the public on Wednesday, weekends and holidays.

Lemon Tree Passage, which has attracted an increasing number of retirees in recent years, is one of the prime secluded spots on the southern shore of a waterway which is now firmly established among the finest aquatic playgrounds on Australia's east coast.

All the holiday magic presented by the port and its resorts is within an hour's drive north from Newcastle.
