Holland Park Accommodation, Hotels, Tours & Information

Holland Park

About 10km south-west of Brisbane City, development at Holland Park, sparked by the 1882 sub-division of one of the original 150 acre estates taken up by Julius Holland in the 1850s, was already well advanced when more than 300 Aborigines gathered in the area for the last major corroboree recorded in Brisbane. The ceremony continued for a fortnight.

A hospital the Americans built here for their wounded in the Pacific was converted into emergency housing to cope with the post World War II demand for accommodation.

Today Holland Park is a well-serviced residential area. With its basketball half-court and skateboard-rollerblade-BMX facility, Glindemann Park is the perfect location to drop off the children or grandchildren while you do the rounds of the nearby Mt Gravatt Shopping Centre. When you"re all shopped out, you can return to the well-equipped park for a family BBQ lunch.
