Itinerary:
Platypus House offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to watch both live Tasmanian platypuses and echidnas in daylight conditions and undercover! Platypus House has been established to advance both the science and community awareness about these animals. Visitors are guaranteed to see both these spectacular egg laying mammals during a 35 minute guided tour of platypus ponds and a walk through the echidna garden to see echidnas foraging in a bushland setting. An educational tour which you will remember for years. Photography most welcome. Visitors can also enjoy viewing a 15 minute film in our Theatrette, browsing through the Interpretation Room or buying a gift to remember your living world experience from the gift shop or simply enjoy a coffee in our cafe overlooking the Tamar River. Open 7 days from 9:30am with tours departing at regular intervals. Last tour 3:30pm. Closed Christmas Day.
