Pigs Point Streamside Reserve


Pigs Point Streamside Reserve is a peaceful place to stop to break up your drive along the Omeo Highway. Stop for a quick picnic or if you are keen on staying a little longer, set up camp.

If travelling from the Murray Valley Highway, Pigs Point Streamside Reserve is located approximately five kilometres down the Omeo Highway and is the first reserve on the left hand side.

Pigs Point Streamside Reserve has a small camp ground and picnic area offering river access. Peaceful and serene this reserve offers lush green grass, plenty of shade, a picnic table, bush toilets and river access. No rubbish bins are available so please ensure that you take your rubbish with you.

Eskdale Wayside Stop


A beautiful scenic stop along the Omeo Highway in the township of Eskdale.

Make sure you bring your camera along because this is the perfect place for a photo stop. Break up your scenic drive at this beautiful little rest area and enjoy a picnic lunch on the picnic tables and chairs available or just stop to take in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and Mitta River.

Eskdale Information Centre and Rest Area


Located in Eskdale, this rest area is the perfect place to stop and stretch your legs. Offering ample parking, public toilets (including an accessible toilet), picnic tables, barbecue, rubbish bins, water (not suitable for drinking) and an undercover area to sit out of the sun or rain, this is a perfect place for a picnic or a break in your drive.

Take a stroll and read about the Beaufort Bomber air crash or admire the war memorials. The information centre is not manned and has basic information about the surrounding areas.

Vic Alps Cycle Tour


Four days of spectacular cycling in the Victorian Alps with a carefully crafted itinerary enabling you to ride a fully supported loop showcasing the spectacular scenery, villages, regional produce, local wineries and micro-breweries of north east Victoria.

Ladies Day Out


Ladies Day Out is a very special not-for-profit event that aims to raise as much money as possible for local women affected by cancer. All ladies are welcome out for a day of enjoyment amongst fun loving women, with lunch, music and all round fun and a huge auction.

Tickets include a three course lunch, drink on arrival, live band to dance away on the terrace, transfers to and from Bright, Wangaratta, Myrtleford and Beechworth and a $5 donation from your tickets goes towards aiding ovarian and breast cancer sufferers and support networks in the North East Valleys.

All other proceeds go towards Spoil Me Day pamper event.

Alpine Valleys Fringe Fest


Embrace life on the fringe and get set for a weekend of laughs, entertainment, great music and cabaret all in the one weekend at the inaugural Alpine Valleys Fringe Fest at Feathertop Winery.

The festival is a celebration of all things cultural and diverse in the region, bringing together the best up and coming talent in the local region.

The line up includes a mix of comedy, cabaret and music, set in the stunning winery over four nights.

Launch Preview Night Thursday 9 January. Local musicians Alpine Bangers kick off the festival opening night. Includes canapes, bubbles and craft beer on arrival and your chance to see a two to five minute preview of all the festival artists.

Ringer Reef's Picnic in the Vineyard


Ringer Reef's popular Picnic in the Vineyard events are back. This year they have sourced quality live music from near and far to entertain you whilst enjoying a picnic and glass of wine. Kick back, soak up the views and chill out at Ringer Reef.

Porepunkah Community Christmas Party


The Porepunkah Community Christmas Party is a chance for the local community - and anyone else who wants to join in - to get together and celebrate everything great about living in Porepunkah.

Held at Riverside Park on the banks of the Ovens River, this is a free event that showcases the true meaning of community. Connect with friends and neighbours by sharing a BBQ while the kids enjoy a kayak in the river, play games or take a turn on the jumping castle. Santa will stop by for a special visit and live music will keep everyone entertained throughout the afternoon.

The Porepunkah CFA will also be there along with Captain Koala to hand out balloons to the kids and promote bushfire safety messages to the community. You might even get to have a close-up look at the fire truck.

This is a BYO event, however there will be some food and soft drinks available. If you are feeling generous please bring enough to share. Bring your own chairs or picnic rug and get ready for a fun afternoon in Porepunkah.

Carnival At The Vet


Join the Alpine Vet in celebrating their 10 year anniversary, Fun and frivolity for furkids and their families.

Come along on Sunday 20th of October for a sausage or some fairy floss. Kids can try to find Spot's spots for a prize at 11:30am. Your pets can put their paws to work painting with the potential to win an award as best 'Petcasso' on the day.

There will be a performance by Gail and her dogs from Urban Canines to show you tricks and tips to teach your pet. She'll even have a prize for a particularly gifted dog.

Jumping castle, popcorn, face painting, prizes and gifts galore for kids and pets.
