Old Tallangatta Lookout


The Old Tallangatta Lookout is located on the Murray Valley Highway only 10 minutes drive from the township of Tallangatta and is the perfect place to stop and take a photo, have a picnic or stretch your legs.

The lookout offers amazing views over Lake Hume and the old Tallangatta township and the views are not to be missed when Lake Hume is at full capacity. Located along the High Country Rail Trail makes it convenient for bike riders to stop here to have a break and take out the camera for a few snaps.

Old Tallangatta Lookout offers parking, two picnic tables (one of which is undercover), information boards, a garden and access to the High Country Rail Trail.

Limited parking is available.

Mount Granya State Park


Mount Granya State Park is a dominant feature in the Upper Murray landscape. Its steep, forested slopes rise dramatically above Lake Hume and surrounding valleys to form prominent ridges and plateaus. The park has diverse vegetation and spectacular wildflowers.

Picnic at the Mount Granya Summit (950 metres) and enjoy views of the surrounding valleys and distant mountains. The distinctive call of the Lyrebird is often heard on the nearby Lyrebird Walk.

Tallangatta Triangles Park


Tallangatta Triangles Park is located in the centre of the town and is popular for tourists and locals alike. Bring the kids down for a play at the large playground or perhaps invite the family down for a barbecue in the undercover area. Many local events are held in the Tallangatta Triangles. Beautiful large plane trees in the park were moved from Old Tallangatta town and offer ample shade in the warmer months.

Tallangatta Triangles Park offers plenty of picnic tables and chairs, several bench seats, rubbish bins, a war memorial, vintage lamp posts, several drinking fountains, public toilets (including disabled access and baby change facilities), a static information centre, large undercover area and several barbecues.

Tallangatta Foreshore


The Tallangatta Foreshore is the perfect place to spend those warmer days. Sit at the picnic tables in the undercover area, watch the kids play at the splash park or perhaps you can cook up some lunch or dinner at the barbecue provided.

Tallangatta Lookout


Located just off the Murray Valley Highway, on the outskirts of Tallangatta, the Tallangatta Lookout offers you magnificent views of Tallangatta township below, Lake Hume and the Sandy Creek Bridge.

Wymah Ferry


While you are driving along the Murray River, why not try crossing at the The Spirit of Wymah, a heritage listed cable ferry built in 1946.

The ferry crosses the river at Wymah in New South Wales and Granya in Victoria, and is a fun alternative which enables you to experience the Murray River. The passenger carrying ferry can take three cars, however is not suitable for caravans.

The Wymah Ferry is one of only two surviving ferries that cross the Murray River, the other being Speewa Ferry, at Swan Hill.

Sandy Creek Bridge


The Sandy Creek Bridge forms a portion of the High Country Rail Trail. The Sandy Creek Bridge was reconstructed in 2012 with a 600 metre architecturally designed pedestrian and cycling bridge, sitting on the original rail pylons stripped of track after the Cudgewa branch line closed in 1981.

Adjacent to the bridge are picnic tables and a viewing platform to take in the spectacular scenery.

The festivities start with the Christmas party and treasure hunt for the kids, following the Christmas party enjoy Carols in the Park performed by local community groups and schools and a visit from the jolly man in the red suit himself, Santa.
