Winton Wetlands Art Tank

This stunning visual tribute was created during the 2016 Wall-to-Wall Street Art Festival.

Prior to commencing the artwork, renowned street artist, Guido Van Helten, met with members from local Country Fire Authority (CFA) brigades to gain inspiration.

The commission saw Guido incorporate portraits of three local volunteers, Colin Hooke from Chesney Vale Brigade, Robert Green of Taminick Brigade and Danielle Spokes of Winton Brigade.

Guido spent a weekend at the site transforming this concrete tank.

An unexpected but fitting compliment to the contribution of CFA volunteers to the area's history, landscape and community, this artwork has received national and international acclaim for the striking expression it casts against the backdrop of lifeless river red gums.

Warby-Ovens National Park

Warby-Ovens National Park is 240 kilometres north east of Melbourne and 10 kilometres west of Wangaratta.

The Warby-Ovens National Park is characterised by three distinct vegetation communities - the granitic hills and woodlands of the Warby Range, the Box-Ironbark of the Killawarra Forest and the Redgum forest and wetlands of the unregulated Ovens Heritage River. Together they provide an important link from the alpine foothills to the Murray River protecting some of the State's most significant bushland.

The lower reaches of the Ovens River offer some of the best still water canoeing in the state among a maze of channels and wetlands. With care, power boats can explore the river for several kilometres upstream from Camerons Bend.

Murray Cod are frequently caught in the Lower Ovens River. Most are returned to the river to ensure the ongoing survival of this iconic fish.

Conditions can change in parks for many reasons. For the latest information on changes to local conditions, please visit the relevant park page on the Parks Victoria website.

Be bushfire ready in the great outdoors. Refer to the Bushfire Safety section on the Parks Victoria website for tips on how to stay safe.

Street Art - Goorambat Uniting Church

'Sophia' came into being in 2017 when the Uniting church community in Goorambat were approached to host a mural inside the church itself as part of the Wall to Wall festival. The mural had to be relevant to the culture and ethos of the church community and of a quality that would enhance the church precinct. 'Sophia' was painted by well known street artist 'Adnate'.

After some concept images were discussed with Adnate it was suggested, inspirationally, that the subject might depict "Sophia" the female aspect of the Holy Spirit. This traditions draws on the spirit of God as it manifested in the Old Testament times and the post Pentecostal period.

Visitors are able to experience this beautiful piece of art daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm, however if the church is not open when you arrive, please call the number of the door. One of the church's volunteers will be happy to assist.

This beautiful piece of artwork is not to be missed and well worth the drive to see in all its glory.
