Yunderup Accommodation, Hotels, Tours & Information

Yunderup

Near the shores of the Peel Inlet, and about 80km south of Perth, South Yunderup is just the place to station yourself for a frenzy of fishing away from the hustle and bustle of the busy resort town of Mandurah. Down Yunderup way, the standard of fishing, crabbing and prawning is legendary in the inlet, in the converging rivers, in the estuary and from the beaches.

Boating, sailing, swimming and surfing are well catered for around here, too. Right next door to South Yunderup is the town of Ravenswood, a small settlement on the banks of the Murray River. The historic Ravenswood Hotel is a popular lunch spot for boaties, who can tie their craft up at the pub"s front door.

South Yunderup and Ravenswood are ideal bases from which to explore the Peel Region either by boat or car. The Murray River is navigable upstream as far as Pinjarra, and downstream all the way to the Indian Ocean via the Peel Inlet. You can catch crabs from the shore from about January until May.

If Yunderup gets a bit quiet for you, all the modern conveniences of Mandurah are just 10km or so up the road.
