Dongara
The coastal town of Dongara and its sister town of Port Denison lies some 350km north of Perth and less than 50km south of Geraldton.
The town retains some historic buildings and a leaflet for a walking tour is available. The coastline features beaches and offshore reefs and swimming, snorkelling, fishing and surfing are all popular.
In spring, the area comes alive with arguably the state's most extensive variety of wildflowers.
There is a commercial fishing fleet for rock lobster and you can take a tour of the lobster factory in season (November to June). Don't forget to sample them too – fresh cooked lobsters are sold in season.
Dongara holds a Larry Lobster Festival and Blessing of the Fleet in early November.
