East Perth Accommodation, Hotels, Tours & Information

East Perth

Set on the fringes of the Perth CBD, the vibrant inner suburbs of East Perth and Northbridge offer a wide array of restaurants, pubs, cafes, nightclubs and the occasional house of pleasure. Name a country and the chances are its cuisine is represented on the restaurant trail.

But, apart from all that, East Perth has an even greater claim to fame: it's home to one of Australia's most famous and beloved sporting grounds, the Western Australia Cricket Association"s home ground, or, as test cricket lovers round the world know it, the WACA (pronounced whacker).

East Perth also hosts one of Australia"s trotting and pacing tracks - Gloucester Park.

In the 1980s, the Western Australian Government decided to rejuvenate and transform East Perth, redeveloping it to become a fully integrated urban village to cater for contemporary lifestyles and a trend toward inner city living.

Today, it is considered to be one of Australia's finest urban renewal projects and has become a model for town planning and environmental rehabilitation, paving the way for similar developments nation-wide.

East Perth's eastern boundary is the Swan River and it's just a railway bridge crossing from the centre of the City of Perth.
