Tuart Hill

This tidy, mostly-residential suburb, about seven kilometres north of Perth's CBD, and its neighbouring suburb of Yokine, have the dubious honour of harbouring a couple of the big TV networks' transmitters and studios, but they're pretty much out of the way and don't cause too much disruption to normal goings on. A housing boom began in this area after WWII and then it was rapid and sustained growth throughout the 1960s and 1970s. From the centre of Tuart Hill, it's a quick drive into the heart of the city... it's only nine kilometres or so to some great beaches, such as Scarborough, Trigg and Floreat, and just three kilometres south-west and south respectively are the extensive recreation areas around Herdsman Lake and Lake Monger. Like most Perth suburbs, there are swags of open areas and parklands throughout Tuart Hill, and immediately to the east is the fine West Australian Golf Course. Keep your head down if you're walking past the Yokine Primary Scholl on a Saturday morning when members of the Yokine Archery Club - Western Australia's oldest – loose their arrows.
